PLANS FOR 2006

Cambodia Trip

Two new rides are ready to roll. Cambodia and the magical site of Angkor Wat/Siem Reep. This incredible tour through Cambodia's rainforest and back roads to Angkor Wat (one of the world’s top “must see” ancient man made sites) is set for January/February 07, avoiding intense heat and rain season. If you have always wanted to see something spectacular this is it, except you get to ride to it and then take a boat back through the jungle back to the capital. Contact me if interested.

Costa Rica/Environmental Tour

My environmental tour through Costa Rica is one of the leading countries in the world for eco-tourism. We start on the Caribbean side at Costa Rica's famous Turtle Reserve and wind our way to volcanoes and the Paquare River for an incredible overnight river rafting experience. The Paquare is a magical river once set for a dam project and fortunately one you can still experience. Totally surrounded by dense rainforest and wildlife we stay on the river overnight in huts or hammocks. We gather our bikes, some lunch and off we go visiting waterfalls and the beautiful butterfly reserve. Riding through one of the world’s only cloud forests --this is 100% protected-- we will also traverse the tree tops on ropes before hitting the roads again.

We finish on the coast for a little surfing. One surf lesson and beer is included in the price.

Dates and Prices to be announced soon. Please check in or contact me. The tour is fully supported (1-2 trucks, chef, bike mechanic, local guides), 3 meals a day while biking/rafting. Price also includes entrance to volcano, waterfalls, Monte Verde Cloud Forest/tree top walk, One and a half day river raft, hotels at beginning and end as well as flight back to San Jose.

Bhutan Trip

Bhutan is probably one of the most pristine countries left untouched by tourists’ hands. It holds ancient monasteries hanging off incredible mountain sides and an incredibly beautiful culture. This trip includes some jaw dropping scenery as is located near Nepal just above India. As well has an incredible river system and we will tap into it with some river rafting.

Burma Trip

Also plans for the former country of Burma which has some incredible mountain and remote temples as well as giant Buddha carved inside a huge cave. So much here to see and ride to cannot cover it all. As well, once again the scenery will take you places but you will earn it at times.

China : Xinjiang/Silk Road

Xinjiang is the province of China that lies on top of Tibet. It was a major part of he famous Silk Road traveled for centuries by traders and the likes of Marco Polo. The terrain is magnificent and the people will take you back into time. If I can time it right we will witness a game of Buz Kashi, which is an exciting ancent and bruising form of Polo played with a calf carcass up on a high, 10,000 foot plateau. This incredible setting and the game itself will be something that will give you that inner sense for years , that you witnessed and something very special and real.

Tibet lays below and also borders India, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Our route will follow the ancient Silk Road route around the Tarim Basin, a wild and powerful desert surrounded by majestic mountains.

South American Trips

I am currently working on Peru and Bolivia trip. This trip includes hiking to Machu Pichou, biking to Lake Titicaca, kayaking across it and stopping of on the island where the Mayan culture all began. We will camp over night on one of the islands and then kayak to where we will join up with the bikes again and bike into Bolivia. Bolivia is a culture rich country and we will see some of its ancient sites but as well will climb up the famous 60km "hill" called death road. It starts off in the rain forest and finishes 4000 meters later in a village up in the snow. An incredibly beautiful scenic climb that you will never forget. We stay up here overnight and yup, you earned it. We get to go down, where we will then head to Bolivia's Grand Canyon which is about two times the size of North America's version.

I am covered in goose bumps thinking about this one. Please keep checking the site for the latest information about the this and other trips. I look forward to bringing these to you soon-live and in full living color.
