Tour d’Afrique – Cairo to Cape Town

Off Beat Roads owner Scotty Robison took part in the inaugural Tour d’Afrique – an 11,900 kilometre bicycle tour/race from Cairo, Egypt to Cape Town in South Africa. He is now in the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest crossing of Africa by human power.

This once in a lifetime adventure starts at the base of Egypt’s mysterious Sphinx then takes you through the best that Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia has to offer before finishing up in one of the world’s most beautiful cities – Cape Town.

The tour/race can be done as a whole or broken into sections for those looking for a great adventure but lack the time to commit to the entire event. This African bicycle journey begins every January.
